Hello! I’m Jason, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I’ve called Chicago home for 15 years and have based my mental health therapy practice in Ravenswood Manor. I work with adults facing a variety of mental health challenges, including depression, anxiety, life changes, relationship challenges and feeling generally stuck.

My approach is rooted in the following “modalities,” a fancy word for the why and how of therapy. I’ve included very brief descriptions of each. Click through to read about any of them in greater depth:

• Acceptance and Commitment Therapy: learning to accept thoughts and feelings for what they are, make space for them and act in accordance with personal values

• Cognitive Behavioral Therapy: connecting thoughts and feelings with actions and finding ways to get between stimulus and response

• Psychodynamic Psychotherapy: a deeper therapeutic approach that looks at attachment patterns and unconscious rules that drive our emotions and behaviors 

• Person-Centered Therapy: an approach rooted in relationship, genuineness, empathy and unconditional positive regard

• Mindful Self-Compassion: caring for self in ways we’re more accustomed to caring for others

• Religious Trauma recovery: religious trauma is trauma, and the impact of high control religion can cause shame, negative self-image and difficulty with decision making

More important than all this jargon and acronyms is relationship. Study after study show that the most important indicator of “success” in therapy is the relationship between therapist and patient. My job is to create a safe space that fosters vulnerability, openness and curiosity. There’s no judgment here. Let’s explore what you’re carrying, where it might originate and how we might lighten the load.

When I’m not in the therapy room you can find me running, baking, devouring Star Wars novels, visiting theme parks, obsessing over Bruce Springsteen bootlegs, watching classic sitcoms and playing board games.
